Research networking and regional development policy in the East African Community (EAC)
Abstract
In November 2010, a regional policy forum was held in Mombasa, Kenya, to discuss regional dimensions of national development policy research in the EAC and the importance of networking in policy research. The papers presented are included in this volume: Mukhisa Kituyi analyses the East African integration process from a historical perspective.; Bonabana-Wabbi et al. review agricultural policies in the EAC; Rose Fidélité Ndayishimiye analyses the implications of Economic Partnership Agreements with the EU on the EAC's fragile economies; Félicien Usengumukiza addresses the issue of foreign direct investment and investment opportunities in East Africa; Nahashon Aderon and Eric Aligula identify some of the challenges facing the transport infrastructure in the East African region; and Luke Olumu explains the status and effects on non-tariff barriers on trade between Uganda and other countries. In a concluding chapter, George Omondi discusses institutional arrangements for a research-policy nexus at the regional level.
