The present monograph entitled "Research in the process of professional training of the social worker: the Study Group and Research on Work, Training and Sociability - GETFS", is the result of the experience of GETFS during the training process in the Bachelor's Degree in Social Work of Uninter International University Center, which triggered interest on the role of research in the process of professional training of the social worker. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the role of research in the process of professional training of the social worker, considering that such training is a development of a specific historical construction, as well as research carried out in different temporalities portrayed according to the political, economic, cultural and social context of each historical moment. The methodology defined for this work was descriptive and explanatory, with bibliographical and qualitative research in the light of Dialectical Historical Materialism in Marx. In order to explain the specificities of the GETFS, the researchers chose the format chosen by the researcher to signal through the topics discussed and afterwards, to perform an analysis of the contents correlating the contemporary reality. The profession of Social Service is called to act in the concrete reality of the subject, to escape from a welfare action, to expand the possibilities of intervention and qualification of the category, to build knowledge in order to establish the profession in all social assistance spaces, to open new fields of work, but for this it becomes necessary to be a trained professional, capable of demystifying the plot of reality in its entirety. The triad between Teaching, Research and Extension are essential in the training process, as well as in continuing training by social workers. It is fundamental to social workers to understand the complex dynamic movement of society in the capitalist system in order to intervene effectively, based on scientifically proven data and foundations. As a result, we find that the research has a fundamental role both in the training process in the academy and in the daily life of the social worker who acts in the reality of the users, in the perspective of access and guarantee of rights. in continuing education by social workers.
